Terms of Service
01 Introduction
We hold your money until both sides deliver. Using Trusthold means agreeing to these rules.
These Terms of Service ("Terms"), effective September 2026, govern your use of Trusthold, the website at trusthold.net and the services available on it (together, "Trusthold," "we," "us," or "the Platform"). Trusthold is operated by Trusthold Marketplace Limited, a company registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria, RC 9886434.
Trusthold is an escrow facilitation service. We hold a buyer's payment until both sides of a deal have done their part, then release it to the seller. We are not a party to the underlying agreement between the buyer and seller, and we do not inspect, own, ship, or guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any item exchanged through the Platform.
By creating an account or using Trusthold, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
02 How Trusthold Works
Buyer pays in, seller ships, buyer confirms, seller gets paid. Miss a deadline and there are automatic consequences.
A transaction on Trusthold moves through six stages, plus three possible endings.
2.1 Stages: Proposed, Accepted, Funded, Shipped, Delivered, Released.
2.2 Endings: Released, Refunded (buyer paid back through a dispute), or Cancelled (never funded). Released: the buyer's money has been released to the seller. The seller is paid when Trusthold has sent the transfer to their bank account and recorded it.
The buyer or seller proposes a transaction, stating the item and the agreed price. The other party accepts, which locks in the terms. The buyer pays the agreed price into escrow (there is no Trusthold fee during launch). The seller ships the item and adds the carrier, tracking number, IMEI or serial number, and a photo or video of the packed item. The buyer then has an inspection window, currently 48 hours, to confirm the item arrived as described. Once the buyer confirms, or the inspection window passes without a dispute, the funds are released to the seller.
If the buyer has not confirmed delivery within 5 days of the item being marked shipped, the transaction is flagged for our team to check. No money moves because of this check. If the buyer does not confirm or open a dispute within 48 hours of confirming delivery, the payment is released to the seller automatically. The money is then sent to the seller's bank account by bank transfer.
03 Fees
Trusthold is free during launch: the Trusthold fee is currently 0% of the price. No fee if the deal is cancelled before payment.
| Trusthold Fee | 0% of the agreed price (free during launch) |
| Who Pays It | The buyer, on top of the agreed price, at the time of funding |
| Refundable? | No, once a transaction is released to the seller |
| Cancelled before funding | No fee is charged |
04 Eligibility & Accounts
You must be 18 or older, honest about who you are, and keep one account.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a legally binding agreement. You must give accurate information when creating your account, and keep your login details secure. Each person may hold one account only.
05 Shipping & Inspection
The seller ships and records proof. Once the buyer confirms the item arrived, they have 48 hours to check it.
5.1 When shipping, the seller must give the carrier, tracking number, IMEI or serial number, and a photo or video of the packed item. There is no fixed deadline to ship. If the seller does not ship, the buyer can open a non-delivery dispute (section 6). If the buyer has not confirmed delivery within 5 days of the item being marked shipped, our team checks in with both sides; no money moves because of this check.
5.2 The buyer has an inspection window, shown on the transaction as 48 hours, to confirm the item was received as described.
5.3 If the buyer does not confirm the item is fine or open a dispute within the inspection window, the payment is released to the seller automatically, as described in section 2.
06 Disputes
If something goes wrong, a real person reviews the evidence and decides who's right. That decision is final.
The buyer can open a dispute if something goes wrong. A seller with a problem can contact us at support@trusthold.net.
6.1 Non-delivery dispute: opened if the seller has not shipped, or the buyer has not received the item.
6.2 Item-condition dispute: opened after delivery, if the item does not match what was agreed. This requires the buyer to submit an unboxing video as evidence.
A human reviewer looks at the evidence from both sides and decides whether to release funds to the seller or refund the buyer. That decision is final. We aim to review disputes within a reasonable time.
07 Refunds & Cancellations
Cancel for free before payment. After that, only a dispute can get you a refund.
A transaction can be cancelled by mutual agreement before it is funded, with no fee charged. Once funded, a transaction can only end in a release or a refund through the dispute process in section 6. Trusthold does not issue refunds outside that process. Refunds go back to the bank account the payment came from.
08 Prohibited Use
No illegal items, no side deals outside the platform. We can shut down accounts that try either.
You may not use Trusthold for anything illegal under Nigerian law, including stolen goods or counterfeit items. You may not agree to a deal partly through Trusthold and partly through a side payment outside the Platform; doing so removes our ability to protect either side. We may cancel a transaction and suspend an account we reasonably believe is being used for fraud or anything illegal.
09 Evidence You Submit
Photos and videos you upload can be used to resolve a dispute.
When you upload a photo or video (item photos, shipping evidence, unboxing videos), you confirm you have the right to share it, and you give us permission to store and review it for running the transaction and resolving any dispute connected to it.
10 Liability
We hold the money and review evidence, that's it. We're not responsible for the item itself or how it's shipped.
Trusthold acts as a neutral party holding funds and reviewing evidence. We are not liable for the condition, authenticity, safety, or legality of any item exchanged between users, for how a courier handles an item, or for indirect losses arising from a transaction. Our liability in connection with any transaction is limited to the funds actually held in escrow for that transaction.
11 Suspension & Termination
We can close an account for fraud. You can close yours anytime, as long as nothing's in progress.
We may suspend or close an account we believe, in good faith, is being used to defraud another user, evade these Terms, or break the law. You may close your account at any time, provided you have no transaction currently in progress.
12 Governing Law
Nigerian law governs these Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
13 Changes to These Terms
We might update these Terms. Keep using Trusthold and you accept the changes.
We may update these Terms as Trusthold grows. Updates are posted on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use Trusthold after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
